Culture Menu at Nordic Light 2010

Culture Menu is participating in International Photography Festival Nordic Light, during April 24 – May 1, 2010, in Kristiansund, Norway.

On 24th of April in Norway, Kristiansund, International Photography Festival Nordic Light starts and will last for one week. In 2009, National Geographic named the archipelago of Kristiansund the most beautiful place in the world to visit. The festival, which has been organized since 2006, invites known photographers from all over the world, local residents, students and photographers amateurs to cultural venue of North West Norway and gives all the attention to the analysis of photography. Lectures of acknowledged photographers, portfolio reviews, workshops and discussions will be organized as well as 34 exhibitions will be opened during this festival, which will last till 9th of May.

Known Lithuanian photographer Arturas Valiauga, the director of photography festival IN FOCUS and the director of Public Institution Culture Menu Egle Deltuvaite and visual artist of Lithuanian origin, residing in Norway, Darija Sapozenkova-Hauge have been invited to this year’s festival “Nordic Light 2010” in Kristiansund. On 27th April, together with Russian photographer Aleksandra Demenkova from Russia, artists are opening an exhibition “Territory of Broken Dreams”, where Lithuanian premier will be presented – series “Hangar of Kupiskis Flee Market” by Arturas Valiauga. The artists will also give lectures about their projects, will participate in discussions, debating some aspects of art and being after the demise of the Soviet Union.

In the festival, whose ideological and artistic director is a known Norwegian photographer Morten Krogvold, including more than 100 photographers, art critics and curators, such legendary personalities as Elliott Erwitt, Bill Atkinson, Anton Corbijn, Marc Riboud, Chris Rainier, Jan Saudek and others will participate. Main forces of photography from different countries will present contemporary and classic photography, political insights, philosophical thoughts and fantastic stories.

International photography festival Nordic Light is seeking to become the most important site for the meetings of photography art in Europe and to promote more active spread of photography art and its deeper perception.
